Staying active in the Troop Scouts are reminded that in order to be considered active in the troop and be eligible for advancement, including starting and Eagle project, scouts must meet a minimum requirement of attending at least 70% of all regular Monday night meetings and go on at least one trip per calendar quarter. A reminder Scouts, please remember to obtain a current Scout Printout from Mrs. Wheaton before scheduling any meetings with Scoutmasters. The printout includes your list of merit badges and activity within the troop. This will assist both the Scout and the Scoutmasters in determining if the Scout is current and eligible for advancement. The Importance of Being On Time Scouts are reminded to be on time for troop meetings. Too many scouts have been showing up 10 or 15 minutes late. Meetings start at 8 PM. Become a Merit Badge Counselor Do you have a special interest, hobby or fun job that you could teach the scouts about? Become a Merit Badge Counselor, and give something back to the troop. Merit badge classes can be held at your convenience at your home or at troop Monday night meetings. There are over 100 merit badge topics to choose from. Log onto www.Meritbadge.com for a complete list of merit badges. A single training session is all that is required. Please contact Mrs. Perry if you are interested. Getting Information Scouts and parents are reminded that phone calls for information about troop activities should follow a "chain of command". Your first source of information should be this web site, www.troop943.org. Next, scouts should call their patrol leaders or the Troop Guide. If there are still questions, call the Senior Patrol Leader, or his Assistant. Finally, call an Assistant Scout Master or the Scout Master. A Reminder about Blue Cards Before turning in Blue Cards, please make sure they are complete and signed in four places, twice by the merit badge counselor and twice by Mr. Meyer. The cards can be turned in to Mrs. Wheaton at troop meetings or delivered to her house. The Monday before a Court of Honor is the last day to hand in blue cards. Please deliver them in person, do not give them to anyone else for delivery. If you need a history for a Scoutmaster conference, call or e-mail Mrs. Wheaton and she will send you a copy. Keeping Up To Date We attempt to maintain an accurate and up to date roster of the membership of the Troop. This is a very handy aid when planning outings and meetings. With a Troop as large as ours, keeping it up to date is a challenge. If your address, phone number or e-mail address has changed, please send the updated information to the Troop Secretary. Updated rosters will be distributed from time to time via e-mail and surface mail. Boy Scout Clothing Thanks to all who have answered the call for "gently used" Boy Scout clothing. We now have quite a supply. Anyone is welcome to them -- first come, first served. Please contact the Perry's to check the inventory before buying.
